All Classes Are Cancelled Monday March 9, 2020, through Sunday, May 31, 2020
Greetings Lifelong Learners,
In an abundance of caution, and consistent with our peer institutions, we are cancelling ALL Scarsdale Adult School classes scheduled through Sunday, May 31, 2020. Please be assured that while there are no known cases of COVID-19 among Scarsdale Adult School faculty, staff, or students, we are respecting calls for social distancing in the interests of our community.
We will be refunding all tuition automatically, using the method of your original payment, unless we hear from you by Friday, March 27, 2020, with alternate instructions. Refunds will be issued as quickly as we can process them, starting on March 30, 2020. All students who were registered for classes that had been scheduled to begin before June should expect to receive class-specific emails to that effect over the course of the next few days.
Should you be in a position to forego the automatic refund, please consider converting your tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Scarsdale Adult School or into a credit for use towards a future class. Because we are cancelling all classes for three full months in the wake of COVID-19, the financial impact on service-based organizations such as ours is a harsh economic reality. If you would like us to handle your tuition as a donation or credit, please follow this link to notify the registrar and know how much we appreciate your generosity.
Between now and our re-opening, we intend to offer free, lecture-style videos as a public service to our community of lifelong learners. Although free programming is not a sustainable model for our nonprofit in the long term, we hope that the opportunity to watch some of our instructors will be reassuring and provide a sense of connectedness in these extraordinary times. As our instructors begin this creative process, we encourage you to view Author Visit with Mike Lupica and Author Visit with Anna Quindlen, two of our special events that had been recorded, thanks to the A/V department of the Scarsdale School District.
We eagerly look forward to the day when we will see you back in the classroom. Until then, we wish you all well.
Regards,
Jill Serling, Executive Director
